Ireland beat Papua New Guinea by 27 runs to confirm their place at the ICC Women's World T20 that will be held in West Indies in November but Ireland had to overcome the early loss of Clare Shillington, the mainstay of their batting line-up, as PNG made them fight hard for their place in the final. Gaby Lewis top-scored with 36 with five boundaries and captain Laura Delany batted through to the end of the 20-overs as Ireland posted 113 for 6. PNG were soon two down but Brenda Tau and Tanya Ruma steadied the innings but the run-rate required also rose and PNG were bowled out for 86 as Lucy O'Reilly took the last three wickets to confirm Ireland's victory and a trip to the Caribbean.
