PAPUA NEW GUINEA FACE IRELAND IN SEMI-FINALS AFTER BEATING NETHERLANDS

Papua New Guinea from the East Asia Pacific region have reached the semi-finals of the ICC Women's World T20 Qualifier for the first time after proving too strong for Netherlands as they beat the hosts by 44 runs. PNG are proving a powerful batting side as Kopi John and Brenda Tau took them to a score of 80 for one in the first 12 overs. A pair of run outs in the middle order set them back a total of 129 for five was an impressive effort with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs. Ravina Oa dismissed both openers including Sterre Kalis but it was Mairi Tom who claimed the best figures as she took four for 24 as Netherlands were dismissed for 85. Papua New Guinea claimed victory by 44 runs and their record of two wins in three matches brought them second place in Group A so they will face Ireland in Thursday's semi-finals.
