United Arab Emirates had started the competition in splendid style as they defeated Netherlands by six wickets in their opening match but they narrowly lost to Papua New Guinea when a place in the semi-finals was within touching distance. UAE were finding batting difficult against defending champions Bangladesh but had limped on to 33 for two when the next six wickets fell without a run being scored as Fahima Khatun claimed a hat-trick. Suddenly, UAE had been bowled out for 39 and Fahima finished with figures of four for eight. Bangladesh needed only 6.5 overs to complete victory by eight wickets as they won Group A with three victories out of three. Bangladesh will face Scotland in the semi-finals with a place in the World T20 in West Indies at stake.
