ACC WOMEN'S ASIA CUP T20 - DAY 1

The first day of the ACC Women's Asia Cup T20 saw convincing victories for the three highest ranked teams. India who have won all six previous competitions were far too strong for hosts Malaysia playing in the Asia Cup for the first time. India won by 142 runs as the ageless Mithali Raj hit an unbeaten 97. Even though Sri Lanka are weakened by Injury they still comfortably beat Bangladesh by 6 wickets and Thailand could not match Pakistan as they were beaten by 8 wickets. All had looked good for the Thai girls when they reached 30 for no wicket in five overs but four wickets fell for just one run to change the course of the match. Captain Sornnarin Tippoch did her best to keep Thailand in the game with 17 runs and one wicket for 9 in her 4 overs but Pakistan reached 70 for 2 in 13.1 overs. Thailand face India today in their second match so things may not get any easier.
